Diseases are getting younger and aggressive, that is why we decided that stem cell storage is a very logical move. If someday a misfortune would happen and our child will get sick, and one of the treatments would be stem cell transplantation, we could not forgive ourselves that we haven't stored them when we could. On the other hand donor search might take some valuable time and could be no luck. A question is - is it cheaper? We think no... And our child is so much of importance in our life!
We first time heard about stem cells while listening to the seminar about delivery, there just few months left until our daughters' birth. In Lithuania this was a very new subject and no one from our fiends haven't stored stem cells before. We didn't have a recommendations how and why this might be useful. However there is also very little information about it in the media, specially about stem cell therapy.
As delivery was a little early, we had to make a quick decision about whether to store our baby's cord blood or not. I'm glad that personnel of the hospital was ready to collect the cord blood. We are thankful for an everyone for operative and important job done for our family!
